Another FInal Table!!!

Registered for the GPP at the last second tonight, took the add-on so started with 4500. Ran really well and the other players were more than happy to give me their chips. Some fun hands:

Ace high flush baby, ship it! Very apparent by the river that I had the best hand, went for max value, and it worked.

He had AK. I'm surprised he didn't repop me which would have put me at a tough decision (although I probably would've called). With this flop I'm betting full pot and extracting value immediately and it worked.

Here's an interesting hand. Completely misread the board and I thought I had middle pair on the flop. Wouldn't have floated this with a guy to act behind me. But he folds and I hit the ace on the turn. I think he's most likely to have a KQ type of hand. I think Ax probably bets turn so I just put him all-in and he folds. This guy would end up making the final table as well though.

Run card dead for a little while and the blinds start escalating. Had a hand with A6o that I had raised from the button and the BB shoved on top which would have been for most of my chips. Decided to let it go cause people don't resteal very often in these so had to give him credit for a good hand.

So now I'm sitting with less than 10 big blinds. We're down to the final 2 tables at this point; I think there were 17 left here. So I have to go with it. Player behind me that called had AQo, and the dope that decided to reraise after that had A8o. It works out, I make my flush on the turn and now I'm in a great chip position.

That brought me up to over 30k and I was able to keep around that stack until we got to 10 left. They paid 10 so even though we hadn't made the final table yet I was in the money. Then this happens.

I figure he was ahead of me, which he was with AKo, but I was priced in to calling the shove and I spike the T on the flop and it holds up. He's knocked out and we go to the final table.

Shortly after the final table starts we lose a player and we're down to 8. I had folded every hand up until this point, but here I am with a strong holding UTG.

He had 44 and decided to contend with me. I've tangled with this guy before (same guy who knocked me out in the last FT I made). I pegged him as a solid player so I'm very surprised he'd shove on top of my UTG raise with a small pair. I got there on the river but really not a good play from him against an EP raise, so justice was served ;).

Very next hand:

Felt like I had to at least see a flop here getting over 2:1 and a chance to knock out another player. I flop really well here I believe and of course I'm going to put him in for his final 4400. He has KTwhich means he's drawing to the higher straight and the higher flush. Pretty much a coin flip here though when we get it in as I do have a pair and still could spike a straight flush, but 9♣ on the turn gives him the straight and I can't get the miracle straight flush on the river. Minor setback.

Another guy who decided to give me his chips. He had 65o and was drawing to a gutterball. Had the chip lead all the way until it got down to 3 handed. The other two stacks tangled a few times and the short stack starting just open-shoving a lot and he doubled through the other guy, then later busted him. So entered heads-up at a 2:1 deficit.

Runner-runner flush, ouch. I couldn't wait to hit the call button there, knew my AT was more than good enough against his wide range there. Collected $10 for 2nd place and think I played mostly mistake free poker. Last night made a little bit of a run too but got knocked out in 19th. Last hand left a bad taste in my mouth. Got a free play in the BB with 9♣8♣ and the flop comes T♣32♠. SB checks, I check, OG limper minbets 800 into the 3000 pot. SB folds, and I decide to peel for that price. Turn is 7♣ and I have an open ended straight flush draw. Would have been a great card for 4th  street in a stud game, but this is holde'm dammit!

Worse yet, I realize I have just a little over a pot-sized bet left and just stick it in. He calls and has JT, river bricks, and I'm gone. Was not expecting him to have top pair after betting so little on the flop but not sure what I was repping there either after check-calling flop. Maybe get an A-high to fold, that's about it. With deeper stacks that might have been an ok play, but for my tournament life? Honestly had no business even peeling the flop bet there with my stack.
