Back to the LOL Fest

And lolfest it was tonight. Got in just as the rebuy/add-on period was ending as usual with my initial buy-in only. Full table of 9 players. A few hands in I was in the BB (50/100 level at that point) and got a free flop with A ♥ 9 ♥ 8 ♦ 7 ♣. With 6 players in the pot, SB pots a flop of 6♠5 ♥ 2 ♥ and I shove for my remaining 1400 with my huge draw. A middle position player also shoves (who I actually have covered) and we have a 3-way all-in early on. Turn 8♠, river T♠ and my straight is good enough to win this 3-way all-in against 8 ♥ 4 ♥ 3x and 66xx. Huge chip gain early on for me.  I play tight, win a few more pots, and I'm up to a little over 5k. With blinds 100/200 now we're 5 handed after 3 more eliminations and I pick up K ♦ Q♠9♠5♣ in the SB. I complete after CO and button limp. BB checks. Flop J ♠ T♠5♠. I elect to check my Q high flush and see what happens. BB checks, CO (the one player that has me covered at this point) bets pot, 800. Button drops, I call, BB also dr

Vegas - Not what I expected

Unfortunately there's really nothing to report from my Vegas trip poker wise. Lost $20 in a 9/6 video poker machine and that was the extent of my gambling. Just too far away from the casinos that offered good poker action and there was too much other stuff on the itinerary to get over to one of them. Didn't get a chance to get over to the Rio to check out the WSOP either, ah well. Little disappointed at the offerings; what I posted Sunday applies to a lot of the places on the strip as well. Went on Tuesday (really the only chance I got to go out on my own and do some exploring) to a lot of the casinos down there and the Flamingo was the only casino that had a limit game going. Considered jumping in but said fuck it and just walked around and explored the strip some more. One of the people in our group did play a tournament at the Wynn and finished in the top 3 (the remaining players decided to end the tourney right there and split the prize pool).  But for me there was plen

In Vegas

Arrived in Vegas late yesterday. Not much chance to do anything other than video poker for $.05 and $.10 per hand. Lost $1 yesterday at the SLS and then today went to the Stratosphere and put in $1 and made a $1.50 profit with the highlight being a full house (queens full of aces) on the last hand. Started w/ 3 queens and picked up the pair of aces on the redraw. Payouts suck so didn't play for big money. Unfrortunately where we are staying the poker options are virtually non-existent within walking distance. The closest casinos are the SLS and Stratosphere and the former has no poker room and the Strat has this.     1 motherloving table. I know it's Sunday morning here at this point but according to Poker Atlas they never run more than 1 and most of their poker tables are used for donkaments. I checked what they had posted and it's a daily 7pm for $50 + an initial $20 add-on and unlimited rebuys for the first hour. Not interested. I'm looking for a low limit

Some brilliant play by yours truly

Well you be the judge. Here are some key hands. We pick it up 5 handed with me being the short stack having late-registered at the last minute and declining the add-on, as of course is tradition. Almost made a quick exit though to be honest. Did win a pot to get up to ~1900 and then opened for 525 with 75/150 blinds holding A ♥ Q♣J♣6 ♥ . Donk to my left just shoves for 7k, and it's folded back to me. I run a simulation of my hand against AAxx and I'm about a 2:1 dog getting 2:1 on a call I stick my last 13 and change in. He actually had K ♥ K♠Q♠7♣ instead and the flop came A♣T♣4 ♦ to give me a nice lead and after consecutive brick offs on the turn and river I get a nice double up.  After folding the next 3 hands preflop (including both blinds) I had 3500 and had A♠K ♥ J♠J ♦ in the CO. UTG limps for 150 and I make it 675. Both blinds end up calling the raise and UTG folds. Flop comes Q ♦ 5♠4 ♥ and it's checked to me. I pot it, basically committing myself with only
