First Royal

Image
I've been playing poker since 2005 and I've never had one. A few straight flushes but never a royal. Of course it had to happen in a freeroll but I'll still take it. I had been playing tight and it served this punk right for reraising me with pocket 4s. I was all-in here for my tournament life but had a ton of outs where I was actually 50% equity on the turn.  Unfortunately still busted 10 out of the money. Had a few more all-ins, A♣ 7 ♥ vs K ♠2 ♠ and ended up flopping trip aces to survive, then K♠Q♠ vs A♠3♠ where I spiked a Q to win that one, but with blinds 500/1000 and ~10k left I jammed A ♥ 3 ♥ from early position and ran into A ♠Q ♥ , and ran out of suckout equity. Actually ended up being my 3rd straight top 100 finish. The first one was mainly surviving on mostly short chips without winning many pots, but got a good run of cards in the 2nd but went card dead for awhile and then lost about 1/2 my chips with AK on a K77x board vs 97. I bet the flop, villain calle

Friday night GPP action

Late reg’d for the GPP tonite as usual and took the add-on. Lot of entries tonight (65 with 37 rebuys); thought they were going to pay 15 but no such luck, only the top 10. Here are some fun hands:   Tournament #2773902 - Level 7 Blinds 50/100 NL Hold'em - 9 Max - 2019/06/28 - 20:35:44 Table 3 Seat 1 is the button Total number of players: 8 Seat 1: GyanzTecz ( 7047 ) Seat 2: Brooklyn ( 4230 ) Seat 3: Adios115 ( 5780 ) Seat 4: grilledchz ( 5900 ) Seat 5: dank_lover ( 9113 ) Seat 6: hero ( 4380 ) Seat 7: mtbiznis2 ( 1080 ) Seat 8: We_Waise ( 6364 ) GyanzTecz: posts ante [10] Brooklyn: posts ante [10] Adios115: posts ante [10] grilledchz: posts ante [10] dank_lover: posts ante [10] hero: posts ante [10] mtbiznis2: posts ante [10] We_Waise: posts ante [10] Brooklyn: posts small blind [50] Adios115: posts big blind [100] ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to hero [ A ♦ , T ♦ ] grilledchz raises [200] dank_lover folds hero calls [200] mtbiznis2 folds We_Waise

Another ticket

Won another $6+.61 step 2 ticket on ACR. Another fun grind where I actually ran really good early on. Doubled up almost immediately. Had A ♥ A ♣ in the HJ, 2 limpers (15/30 blinds), I make it 180, both limpers call. Flop Q ♠ 9 ♦ 3 ♣ . I bet 439, 1 call. Turn 4 ♠ and this punk shoves into me, I call. He has K ♦ T ♣ and the river is the harmless 9 ♣ . A little bit later with blinds at 20/40 I get 8 ♠ 8 ♣ and UTG+2 raises, next player flats, and I flat on the button to try and go mining for a set. BB calls as well. 4 to a flop of K ♠ 8 ♥ 4 ♠ . There it is. BB checks, pf raiser checks, but the next player bets 190 into 380. I can't slowplay this and I raise it all the way up to 950. The next 2 player pass and it's back to villain and he puts in the call. Turn 7 ♠ . He checks, I check back. River Q ♦ . Now he pots it into me for 2280. Blech. I go into the tank and activate my time bank. I do think he could have KQ here but why bet that much expecting me to call with worse? It

Bubble Streak Over

I was sick most of the week so didn't play much. But I did manage to end the bubble streak. It was in a silly ACR freeroll though but I'll take it. They actually changed up how they do the freerolls which makes them a little more enticing to play. They cap the fields at 400 and award step 2 tickets to the top 40. Not a bad ratio. Played in one late the other night and it took about 3 hours to finish. Not too bad of a time investment. Had to win two flips and then with about 48 left I had KK on the button and was a bit short; didn't think I could fold my way into the money at that point (was around 38th in chips). BB had a huge stack and I knew he was going to call no matter what, and the SB had a pretty big stack too so I could have easily gotten 3 way action. Thankfully SB folded but the BB called with 9 ♠ 3 ♠. He flopped a pair of 3s, turned a flush draw, so had to fade it on the river but it came a blank and that put me at ~20k.  From there played weak-tight as shit, f

Another Fucking Bubble

12th this time (with 10 getting paid). Actually ran well in this. Late registered as usual and was down to 2400 but picked up A ♣ K ♠ . 2 limps for 250, 1 fold, I shove.  Folded to BB who shoves for 9.7k and the two limpers call! This ends up being something I had never seen before. The hands are revealed: BB: J♣J ♥ .  UTG: A♠J♠ UTG+1: J ♦ 9 ♦ First time I ever remember all 4 cards of the same rank being out there in an all-in situation. Of course, UTG and UTG+1 are complete morons but that's beside the point. Flop comes K♥3♥9♠ and I'm in the lead now by a lot. Turn and river are running 5s and I quadruple up. Couple of hand later I pick up A♣K♣ again and I wasn't paying attention that well so I'm in the BB and make only the minimum raise after UTG minraised himself. He calls the minraise and we get a flop of Q♣T♠7♠. I elect to check, I really don't think I'm getting him off a lot of hands so hoping for a free turn would be the best result. He
