Donkament Post

A crap, I went back to edit and I lost the post. Well, feel free to go here and see my major "blowup" from a donkament that I played in last weekend (I am of course the villain). I offer my reasoning in the comments. Everyone I talked to about it agreed that my story didn't add up, and I regret making the play, but I thought my image would compensate for that. Guess not.

New Post

Haven't had the chance to play lately unfortunately, but a few thoughts nonetheless. UltimateBet has updated its software, and well I'm a little disappointed. A few things I would have liked to see are: 1) Stack sizes of the players when you're looking for a game and 2) Fix the stupid hand history crap. Starting with the first thing, stack sizes are very important in a no-limit game. I really only want to play in a game where most if not all the players are sitting with 100bbs or more. I still have to go into the game to see how much each player has, and it's a little time consuming. Not a huge deal since I'm getting used to it, but I think it's something that's a pretty easy addition. The hand history thing is something that really needs to be fixed. On every other major site (Stars, FT, Party), you can have your sessions recorded into poker tracker without having to open the hand history (which you can't even minimize) on each table. Also, on UB you ha

Yep, logged in about 180 hands tonight and won two big pots that gave me a huge profit. Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (4 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: HTML) Hero ($27.41) SB ($52.67) BB ($29.02) UTG ($22) Preflop: Hero is Button with 5 , 4 . UTG raises to $1 , Hero calls $1, SB calls $0.90, BB calls $0.75. Flop: ($4) 5 , 3 , 4 (4 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $3 , SB calls $3, BB folds, UTG folds. Turn: ($10) 7 (2 players) SB checks, Hero checks. River: ($10) 5 (2 players) SB bets $10 , Hero raises to $23.41 (all-in) , SB calls $13.41. Final Pot: $56.82 Results: Hero has 5s 4d (full house, fives full of fours). SB has Ah 8h (flush, ace high). Outcome: Hero wins $56.82 I get rewarded for my good play again. Just like the other night when I checked behind an 8-high flop with AK because I put the other guy on a likely TT or JJ, I put this guy on a flush and took my free shot at boating it up on the river.

Great session tonight. I ended up only playing a little over 100 hands total spread out over two tables, but man did I get some good cards. Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: HTML) SB ($19.02) BB ($76.41) UTG ($32.90) Hero ($32.97) CO ($23.41) Button ($32.13) Preflop: Hero is MP with K , K . 1 fold , Hero raises to $0.85 , CO calls $0.85, 1 fold , SB calls $0.75, 1 fold . Flop: ($2.80) 6 , J , 8 (3 players) SB checks, Hero bets $1.9 , CO calls $1.90, SB folds. Turn: ($6.60) T (2 players) Hero checks, CO checks. River: ($6.60) 2 (2 players) Hero checks, CO bets $6.6 , Hero calls $6.60. Final Pot: $19.80 Results: Hero has Kd Kc (one pair, kings). CO has Jc 9c (one pair, jacks). Outcome: Hero wins $19.80. So I end up inducing him to bet the pot on the end with J9. I actually put him on a busted flush draw and called. A lot of people don't bluff at $25NL but this guy's AF was over 3, so I figur

10 Tips for Winning Donkaments

I posted this on twoplustwo ( here ) and it surprisingly got a good response. So here it is you zeroth-level donkeys! 1) If you're in the big blind and several people limp to you, just move in regardless or your hand or stack. It's dead money. 2) If you raise and you get reraised all-in, always put your opponent on the worst possible hand in his range so that you can call. For example, blinds are 100/200 and you have 5000 left. You raise to 800 from the button. A tight big blind player reraises you all-in. You assume he will do this with 88+, AQ+, and KQ. Assume he has KQ and call like lightning. So what if he doesn't, you can still suck out anyway. Defend the 800 you put in there! 3) If someone raises on the button they never have anything. Feel free to reraise out of the blinds, even if you have 94o. Even if you get called, bet the pot on the flop and move him off his hand. He probably missed. If you get called, he's probably floating so either shove the turn. 4) If t

Here's a hand I feel I played really well: Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.25 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) MP ($6.12) CO ($27.46) Hero ($44.97) SB ($25.54) BB ($27.06) UTG ($29.57) Preflop: Hero is Button with K , A . UTG raises to $0.5 , 2 folds , Hero raises to $1.5 , SB calls $1.40, 1 fold , UTG folds. Alright I'm not looking to play a big pot here, but I do need to reraise. I wanted to keep the blinds out and take control of the hand on the flop. I had no real read on the minraiser but I assumed there was a good chance he would call a big reraise anyway, so why put that much money at risk? My plan doesn't work as the SB flat calls, but surprisingly UTG folded. The SB was a tight player, so I gave him a big hand here. Something like TT, JJ, AQs, or AK. I didn't believe he would call $1.40 preflop out of position without a strong holding, and I would expect him to reraise with QQ+. Flop: ($3.75) 6 , 2
