It's Amazing

How poorly and bad they play. GPP tonight, first fuckin hand I'm UTG with A♠T♠. Blinds 50/100 at this point, I make it 300, player to my immediate left rips it in there without even hesitating. He has ~6k and has me well covered. Folded back to me, decide I am giving this ZERO respect. It just doesn't seem like all that strong of a hand and so I call. I am up against KQ and thankfully I get a clean runout and an early double up.

Shortly after with blinds now 60/120-15 I get JJ♣ in the HJ. Two people limp and I make it 840. Folded back to the limpers who don't hesitate to call. Flop comes down 653and the first limper shoves for his final 685. Second limper folds and I of course call. He had Q♠T so not even a flush draw and he just goes with it anyway. Well played on both streets there buddy. I do get a clean runout again and my jacks hold up.

Get moved to another table after that. My ~6k was a little over average stack which was pretty good for not adding on and max late regging. Went card dead for a bit so got down to ~5k and then something unbelievable happened. I was UTG+1 and had to take a shit so I folded my trash hand and headed for the can (playing on a desktop so can't play while taking the Browns to the Super Bowl). Whatever happened in that hand went quickly and I get back to find that my next hand had been folded UTG, AK. I was not happy. HJ made a raise, button called and flop came 9T♣8♣ so I felt a little better at that point. The two players ended up getting it all-in. The HJ had 99 for a set and the button had QQ (and somehow just flatted with it). Turn and river came running queens of course, lol. So there was absolutely no way I was not going broke with that hand had I gotten back in time to raise it.

So I get to the break still alive with 32 left. They were paying 15 tonight as well so liked my chances of making some money. Few hands after the break I get AK again, this time in the SB. A completely reckless donk who ALWAYS seems to be sitting with a large stack in this tournament  (just under 19k at this point) but never seems to get into the money* limps from the CO. I am in my least favorite position and I got 4432 behind so I just rip it in there. BB who has me covered now overshoves for 11k! Limper who I was expecting to give me action with worse folds.

So this guy who I'm sure is a GTO genius has 33. I actually do get a favorable flop of Q♠75but brick off both the turn and river and I find myself out in 32nd place. Yes, it's a huge overbet there preflop but as you saw with the JJ hand earlier they don't fucking fold to a standard or even slightly larger than standard raise so with a hand like AK I gotta rip it in there and see all 5 cards. But I guess I can't blame him for gambling with me there. I guess you gotta take a shot to knock out the best player in the tournament.

*This was no exception. As I'm writing this up I checked the tournament lobby and he went out in 25th.

Aside from this donkament had a PLO session and was able to win back just about everything I lost in the one prior. Some fun hands:

We're 3 handed at this point, I don't know what that 4th player all-in thing is all about but he's not involved. Definitely gonna raise a lot of hands on the button and while I would have a Hugh G. Rection over this type of hand in O8 it's not bad here either; I'm at least s00ted to the ace. I flop a small flush draw and backdoor spades so I'm gonna at least float his flop bet and after he checks the turn I do think about trying to take it, but I pick up a straight draw as well so I take a free river. I get there and get paid off. He did flop top 2 which was a better hand than what I figured he might have (which would be a T or a T with a gutshot maybe.

I think this was pretty standard. Yucky river that could have definitely given one of my opponents a better two pair. Happy to check that down and take the pot.

I'm sure I misplayed this hand. Flop top and bottom with the nut flush draw and a gutshot and I check it back. WTF was I thinking? If that wasn't bad enough, absolutely missed a bet on the turn when it was clear neither opponent was that strong. I fill up on the river and fail to get paid off.

Another hand where my play was questionable. Definitely a hand I can defend with 3 handed from the BB but I flop the 2nd nut flush draw and have an overpair here. I pegged seat4 as a solid player FWIW. I figured he could easily have a bigger pocket pair, or even Axso that put me in a tough spot. Could have taken a card off though as my odds improved with the other guy calling but elected to make a tight fold and keep myself out of trouble. Turns out I would've gotten there and would have gotten paid. Ah well.

Plan is to get some live poker in soon, stay tuned.
