LOL Donkaments

Sorry about the colors being screwed up in this post. I can't seem to fix it without fucking something else up in the code, so screw it. Some red and blue never hurt anyone.

I played a $5+R satellite to the Sunday Million. We started out with 1500 stacks and we could get 1500 more for another $5, which I took. Here's some interesting hands.
This first one comes from the 3rd level, with 25/50 blinds.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: HTML)

UTG (t2825)
UTG+1 (t4510)
MP1 (t3150)
MP2 (t4305)
CO (t1655)
Hero (t2805)
SB (t3225)
BB (t2312)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 6, 7.
2 folds, MP1 calls t50, 2 folds, Hero raises to t200, 1 fold, BB calls t150, MP1 calls t150.

I had been playing tight and I thought this was the time to make a little bit of a move. I have th button and some kind of hand, and I'm going to try and isolate the limper and hope something breaks well for me after the flop. BB calls also though, but let's see what the flop brings.

Flop:
(t625) 4, 9, 7 (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 bets t200, Hero calls t200, BB folds.

MP1 donk bets, and I'm not going to give him the pot for 200. I figure he could have a 9 here, but also could have a draw or just a lousy 7 or 4. I go ahead and call and get it heads up with him as the BB folds.

Turn: (t1025) 6 (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets t800, MP1 calls t800.

I make 7s up and he checks. I figure I'm best here so I bet 800. He calls.

River: (t2625) 8 (2 players)
MP1 checks, Hero checks.

What a piece of shit river. I have to check behind as a lot of possible hands just improved to straights or a better two pair.

Final Pot: t2625

Results:

MP1 has 9c Qd (one pair, nines).
Hero has 6s 7d (two pair, sevens and sixes).
Outcome: Hero wins t2625.

Yeah I take it, but probably could've won more. Well, my preflop raise set up a decent sized pot anyway.

SB (t7955)
BB (t9775)
Hero (t5655)
UTG+1 (t13735)
MP1 (t5148)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, A.
Hero calls t150, 4 folds, Button raises to t750, 2 folds, Hero raises to t5655, Button calls t4905.

This hand too place after break. I took the add-on but was a little behind the average stack at this point. The table, which had been playing passive, now is playing more aggressively. Most pots are raised preflop. I tell myself if I get AA or KK in EP I'm going to trap. I get AK instead, but it's a plenty good enough hand to do the same thing.

When the button raises and it gets back to me, I just move in. I'm offering him about 1.38:1, perhaps some will construe this as an overbet, but AK is the ultimate move-in hand and moving in will frequently be the best play with it. I read that in a book, so there. I would probably make the same play with aces, because nobody ever believes I have anything anyways, especially when I overbet.

Anyway button calls after about 10 seconds and turns over TT. Meh, maybe he put me on AK, maybe he thought I was just playing back at his raise with one of my limping hands. Dunno, but we race it off.

Flop: (t11535) 2, K, 3 (2 players)

Turn: (t11535) 5 (2 players)

River: (t11535) A (2 players)

Final Pot: t11535

Results:
Hero has Kc Ac (two pair, aces and kings).
Button has Th Td (one pair, tens).
Outcome: Hero wins t11535.

And I win. A little lucky there, but I was certainly willing to gamble to double up.

Hero (t10635)

BB (t5255)
UTG (t5073)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 9, 5.
6 folds, Hero raises to t450, SB calls t375, 1 fold.

Alright I'll fool around here, as the table had tightened up.

Flop: (t1050) K, 4, 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Big stack in SB calls, I decide to check behind.

Turn: (t1050) 4 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Figured my hand was probably good, but I wanted to keep the pot small.

River: (t1050) 2 (2 players)
SB bets t150, Hero calls t150.

Pay it off!

Final Pot: t1350

Results in white below:
SB has Ks 6s (two pair, kings and fours).
Hero has 9d 5d (two pair, nines and fours).
Outcome: SB wins t1350.

What a read. I couldn't put him on a K but I had the sense to check the flop and turn and got out of there pretty damn cheaply.

Button (t2730)
Hero (t10935)
BB (t12010)
UTG (t8370)
UTG+1 (t8066)

Preflop: Hero is SB with T, Q.
UTG calls t400, 5 folds, Hero completes, BB checks.

Table (well some people anyway) back to limping, so I just go ahead and throw the 200 in with QTo. BB, who once was the big stack, and had been playing carefully with it, checks.

Flop: (t1175) 6, 3, 7 (3 players)
Hero bets t800, BB calls t800, UTG folds.

I hadn't probed all day, I'm gonna probe this flop and see if I can take it down. The BB calls. Eh, I'm probably giving up on the turn.

Turn: (t2775) A (2 players)
Hero bets t2000, BB folds.

The ace is a pleasant surprise here. I think my opponent just has a 7 here, perhaps even a 6. He checked in the BB, so even J7 or T6 is possible. I decide to go ahead and double barrel here. I think I can represent the ace, even aces up. So I throw 2000 out there, leaving 7000 behind, but probably not going to follow through on the river. He uses his time bank and finally folds after a grueling 30 seconds.

Final Pot: t4775

CO (t40725)

SB (t21293)
Hero (t19942)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9, Q.
1 fold, MP1 raises to t5200, 4 folds, Hero calls t3200.

Almost down to the felt, so I need to accumulate chips. Just been getting dealt shit, I'd been seeing 72o quite often, so I really had no choice but to fold. Most of the hands I had been getting dealt have not been getting action. Had QQ twice UTG, raised, everyone folded.

Anyway, get Q9o here and decide I'm just gonna stop & go. No fold equity in a reraise, so I'm just going to call, and push any flop, hoping that he missed.

Flop: (t9000) K, 3, 4 (2 players)
BB bets t14642 (All-In), MP1 calls t14642.

I push all in well knowing that this is the flop where I'm likely to get called. Only the K could've hit me and they never can actually put me on a pocket pair. Sure enough, it takes him 5 seconds to call a 1.62688889 pot sized bet with A2. JOPKE. What can I do? It's too late to turn back now. Need a Q or a 9.

Turn: (t38284) T (2 players, 1 all-in)
Q, J, 9 please.

River: (t38284) 6 (2 players, 1 all-in)
Doesn't happen.

Final Pot:t38284

I will defend the stop & go to the death, even though it never works for me. I have a pocket pair, they hit the flop and I'm all-in drawing to two outs. I whiff, they call with A-high and I can't improve. I'm sure he calls the reraise though with A2. Nobody ever folds to a reraise anymore. A2? No problem. He can just put me on KQ or exactly what I had, and go with it. I could've waited, but I was in a position where I thought I could accumulate chips.

Well, at least I didn't blow up in this tournament. I had to face a lot of donk minbets, and it was tempting to checkraise bluff, but I refrained. Finished 14th by the way and netted $5 for my efforts, 27-4th got the same $20 prize, and 1-3 got the entry. I don't have any gripes about my own play, maybe I made a stupid stop & go, but I'm not going to beat myself up over a short stacked play where I was probably dead to rights anyway.
come: MP1 wins t38284.
