I'M PLAYING ON SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Finally did it. I finally won a $3+R satellite to get into the Sunday Million. Here's a recap:

I end up being a net loser in that hand. Every time I get it in with 3 players with the best hand I seem to lose, every time. Wasn't unhappy in how I played it however. Since it's the rebuy period I'm looking to just get it in against a worse hand and double up. I managed to win some pots and get to ~3000 at the break, add-on put me at ~4500, which was a under the average stack of ~5500.

After the rebuy I'm in push or fold mode. Here's the hands I moved in with:

With blinds at 100/200-25:
T9 - open pushed in the CO for 2470 and took the blinds.
AK - open pushed 2 off the button very next hand for 2770 and again took the blinds (actually was hoping to gamb00l there).

With blinds at 200/400-25:

QJ- open pushed UTG with 2870 left and surprisingly took the blinds.
94 - open pushed 2 off the button for 3145 and took the blinds. Interestingly enough, all 4 players behind had me covered, but would've needed to put in >50% of their stack to call, so you have a lot of fold equity when that happens, and thus, can shove with hands such as 94 s00ted.

With blinds at 300/600-50:
KJ - Folded to SB who completes, I shove all-in for 4245 on top. He has me covered by about 1300, and folds.

With blinds at 400/800-75:
54 - I shove for 4745 three off the button. CO calls, I have him covered by 1800. All else fold and he turns over AJ. That's okay, I'm live. I flop a 5 and it holds up, taking him out and increasing my stack to 9320. The other players saw however that I was willing to put all of my money in from MP with just 5-high. Even mediocre-bad players will remember that the next time I move in, so I need to be a little careful.

With blinds at 600/1200-75:
64 - move in for 7595 UTG (8-handed) after folding for a little while, but can't really wait any longer with some kind of a hand and having to post the BB next hand. The 7 players behind me fold and I take the pot and breathe a sigh of relief.
A6 - move in for 7820 two off the button, again taking it down.

With blinds at 1000/2000-100:
AQ - move in for 10045 UTG+1 (we're 9 handed once again) and all else behind me fold. I actually pick up a hand after the rebuy. I did have 44 once but had to muck when 2 players shoved ahead of me (which was good too because they had 77 and 99 respectively). But this was the first good hand I had since I took it uncontested with AK.

Then this happens:

1 fold, UTG+1 raises to t6000, 4 folds, SB raises to t6558, BB raises to t13745, UTG+1 calls t7745.

Flop: (t34548) J, 8, 2 (3 players)

Turn: (t34548) 3 (3 players)

River: (t34548) 7 (3 players)

Final Pot: t34548

Outcome: Hero wins t34548.

It felt so great when that jack flopped. Didn't have to sweat out the turn hoping that no A, K, or Q would appear. But I knew I had to gamble there, I figured my hand was best with the other two players getting desperate, even though I got shit for luck with my JJ hand earlier all-in 3-ways. I was in great shape here, moved up to 6th overall in chips with about 60 players left, so I played tight for awhile. Perhaps it was a mistake. I played only a few hands after that:

With blinds at 1500/3000-150
AJ - Got it UTG 7-handed and really didn't want to play it. But I knew I couldn't fold my way into the Sunday Million either. So I just open shoved for 34098. I had the table covered, so if someone was going to play it was going to be for all of their chips. The next player folded, but the player to his right called all-in for 25820. All else fold, and he turns over AJ. Really hated the call, AJs is the worst hand I'm playing in this spot, and I think the other players should know that I've been protecting my big stack. I get no heart help and we end up splitting the blinds and antes.

With blinds at 3000/6000-300
K3 - UTG 9 handed (were at about 27 left at this point with top 15 getting in). My stack is dwindling, 23373, so I go with it. I'm too far away to fold into the money, and the BB is coming up next hand. Really have no choice. Fortunately, all else fold and I take the blinds.
I get 99 very next hand and figure I'll be going with it as well. UTG+1 moves in for 27000, and 2 off the button calls all-in for 17000. I decide to fold, didn't like the spot and I figured to be a coin flip, maybe 40% equity, I dunno. Fortunately for me, UTG shows TT, the other player AQ. However, the board gives a 6-high straight and they end up chopping. Eh.
99 - very next hand, in the SB. I just open push and take it down. BB had about 45k to my 28500.

With blinds at 4000/8000-400
84 - UTG 8-handed and I move in for 35073. I needed to stay afloat, and luckily nobody woke up with a hand, so I took the 4400 blind & ante money.

With blinds at 6000/12000-600
J 8 - in the SB and I just open push for 40873. 21 left at this point and we're hand-for hand. This would be the last hand I would play.

So now we're on the bubble, waiting for 6 more people to go busto. I have 57073 in the CO and blinds have gone up to 10000/20000-1000. Within a few hands, 4 players bust and we're down to 18. Some players get moved to our table and I'm concentrating on folding at this point. I have 4 hands until I get to the BB and even then I should be able to fold my BB and SB and still have a few chips left, even if they go up. I get A7 4th to act, and it's folded to me. I fold without much thought. Survival is most important now. I get A4 the next hand, and again fold after the first two players pass. I fold the next three hands including my BB after it's gone up to 15000/30000-1500 and then I'm sitting in the SB and look at 8 7. Big blind in this hand is all-in for 11336 which is less than my SB which is not 30000. MP idiot bigstack shoves, blowing me out of the water. He has JJ and ends up chopping with the BBs J6 on a board of T9887. I would have made a full house and the tournament would've been over right there (I'm actually just realizing this now admittedly, though I hated his isolation push to begin with). Dunno why he's not playing to knock out the player, accumulating chips as the big stack has no value. So the short stacks kept some how surviving, happened a few times on the other table which I was also watching. Then finally, with enough left for 2 antes, this happens:

MP2 has Qc Tc (two pair, tens and fives).
Outcome: MP2 wins t71140. BB wins t30000.

I was so pissed off when MP2 bet the river and I saw the pot being shipped off to the all-in player. Just then however, the table closed and a pop-up message said the tournament was over. I didn't see anyone get knocked out at the other table, so I went back to the hand history. UTG+1 was all-in for his ante, and thus, was the bubble boy. That sucks for him, but had to happen to someone.

I thought I played well, but it took some divine intervention to get me there. Dan Harrington stated in one of the HoH books that there is some luck in tournaments that goes unnoticed. I forget the example he gave, but it goes beyond getting it in with the worst hand and sucking out (which I did do with the 54o hand). I believe that shoving in with all of the garbage hands and not getting called outside of those two times is pretty damn lucky. Someone easily could've woke up with AA, QQ, AK, AQs, etc, won with it, and sent me packing. But it didn't happen. Even with the structure being the way it is and most players having to call for a large percentage of their chips, even from the BB, that's still pretty damn lucky to shove 15 times, only get called three times, suckout once, triple up once, and split the other time.

Can't wait until Sunday. With a deep structure (200 x the BB starting stacks) , I'll be playing smallball early on and then shift to moneyball when I get down to 60x the BB or so. I also get to play with some of the best players on the online internet (and a mixture of others who are not so good). Who knows what will happen, but I'm just going to play my best, have a good time, and hope for the best.
