More GPP fun

Played the GPP last night and tonight as well and the fields are as large as ever. So in order to have any chance I really need to take the add-on going forward. I did so and last night ran decent and was in a pretty good chip position with around 30 left when I ran into this hand:

Gross. Felt sick over this one. Hate these spots where I have enough left after the flop to fire one bullet when I'm the PFR. Am I committed to shipping it in there, do I try and check it down, give up? These are not easy questions. So the bid to land back-to-back final tables was over but tonight I jumped in and gave it a shot again. Got off to an awesome start:

The river shove was about 1k over pot but I figured it was going to look like I was trying to steal it and expected to be called here, unless he had just the bare A♠ of course. But he flopped top pair, backed into a straight, and got taken to valuetown. This puts me at a little above 9k early on and I'm actually in the top 10 in chips despite max late regging with around 57 of the original 83 entrants left.

A little while later:

Thought I was the one being taken to value town here but in fact he really just value owned himself for the minimum. Would have been happy to just check that one down. This pot put me at 11k. Ended up running it up to 19k or so. Nothing really exciting, got it in good vs. a player that was all-in and took down blinds/antes preflop. The escalating blinds were slowly eating away at my stack though as we got close to the money. Fortunately the bubble burst and we were down to 15 but my stack was under 10k. Gotta go for it here:

He called me with 65and I had him dominated, lol! Unbelievable hand.

A few hands later I'm in the BB and get a free play with T♠2♠ with 2 limpers and end up spiking a T and the hand checks through all 3 streets and what ends up being 3rd pair is good. So I take down another key pot and get to 27k, but then perhaps a blunder?

Sucks that I effectively gave up on the flop but I don't think he's ripping it in there without a hand. I could easily be checking this back with a flush draw to get a free card. Likely he had me beat. I did also only make the minimum raise but on this site a lot of players have the "check/fold" button already selected which I've noticed when I've raised in the past and gotten insta folds. Also if he's calling 6 he's calling 9 I think. Better to probably just cut my losses on a complete blind steal.

After that end up winning the blinds/antes on 3 occasions with legit hands but didn't get called any of the times. The 3rd time I had QQ and showed it when everyone folded. But that put me at 30k and the site decided it was going to give me another chance to play K7:

This time I do c-bet and put him all-in. A little bit different spot here as I did check back before and I think it helps toward him giving me credit for a hand this time. Plus we had 11 left at this point and there's a slight pay jump at 10, he might not want to put himself at risk here. Thankfully I take it down. Ended up getting 3 busts all from the other table shortly after though, and we entered the final table with 8 players, which seems to be a common occurrence when I make the FTs in these. No complaints there of course.

Let's see if we can win it this time, shall we?

This was a spot where I was closing the action and basically priced in to call. Turns out he had QJo so drawing to only 4 outs effectively (or unlikely runner runner two pair or trips). Spiked my miracle card on the turn but still had 19% equity even though he showed up near the top of his range here so definitely the right call. Down to 7 and now I'm in a really good chip position. We lose another player to get down to 6, then I eliminate the 6th place player when I raise OTB with 98o and he calls in the BB with only 4k behind. He has KJ and I manage to spike a 9 on the flop which holds up.

After the long 5 handed play the other night I get a chance to redeem myself. Will I pass the test???? Yes, I did. There were only 3 hands played until another bust and I wasn't involved in any of them. So we're down to 4 handed now.

Shitty spot here. I just felt like I couldn't find the fold button here. I figure I'm probably not in bad shape against a lot of hands he could be doing this with and stuck it in. Almost put a sick beat on him but I honestly felt bad and was going to apologize in the chat when he went runner runner flush to take it down. I deserved to get beat there. A few hands later it's time to just stick the rest in:

Hoping to get this one through preflop obviously with the BB coming around next hand, but I'll take a call against a hand where my cards are live. Crappy flop though but did get some hope with the 3 on the turn. In comes the flush on the river and GG me.

So a 5th and a 4th in a 3 day span with I believe 75 entries the first time and 83 tonight. Collected $4.62 for my efforts tonight. Will certainly take it but the overall tournament win still eludes me. Never expected when I got back into this to make this many final tables though. And I especially thought I was done once these fields got larger, but I'm still there.
