Had 65 entries which was a little lower than the past few days, not sure what their criteria is for how many get paid. It's the same $50 prize pool in either scenario. He had KQo. Was worried he'd river a K or Q on me but fortunately it didn't happen. Huge double up there. Had 12 or 13 left at that point and being a few away from the money went into weak-tight OMG ICM mode and won only one pot where there was 1 limper and I was in the BB with AKo and ripped it in for 7 or 8x and took it down. But the blinds were escalating and eating at my stack and was one of the shorter stacks so it was iffy for awhile but finally a few other people went out and I was safely in the money. Once we got ITM I had ATo and open-jammed. Did not get called and took that one down as well.
After that hand there's a bust at the other table and we go to the final table for the 3rd time in 4 days. Absolute sick run. So obviously really happy with this accomplishment; goal is to win it this time but not feeling too great about it cause I'm one of the shorter stacks. But I got a seat and some chips so going to give it a go.
There's a guy there with a short stack, everyone's kind of waiting for him to go out and he gets a hand where he calls all-in for less than the BB. Ends up getting 3 callers with a side pot and his JJ (which hits a set on the river) wins him a good size pot and takes him out of the danger zone. Shortly after that I get A4o UTG+1 and I have 16.8k at the 1500/3000-375 level. So I go with it, and fortunately I get it through as everyone else folds. We lose another short stack player shortly after that and the same guy who was the short stack originally ends up going out in 8th. He had A5o in the BB, got a limp from LP, he jammed, and the limper was trapping with AA. Ouch.
So down to 7 now and there's actually 1 stack shorter than mine but I'm still in a bad spot with the blinds coming around again. UTG with Q♥8♠ and rip it in. 15171 left with 2500/5000-625. Good luck me, I'm gonna need it. Player in the HJ flats and everyone else folds. He has K♠J♠ and the flop comes K♥7♠5♠. Yuck. Turn 7♦. We're stone dead, but the river comes the Q♣ to give me a pair as a parting gift, along with the $2.20 in prize money for 7th place.
Not really disappointed here. Didn't think I made any bad moves and I was below average stack for a good portion of the tournament; maybe even the entire time. Maybe could have been a little more aggressive on the bubble to collect chips but with the big stacks at the table not sure I had enough fold equity to start stealing with garbage or even marginal hands. I think I needed that double up at the final table and just did not get the cards there tonight and was forced to shove from early position a few times and the second time just got my hand caught in the cookie jar. But 3 final tables in 4 days is awesome and I will take it.
