I want to hold'em like they do in Texas please

Plenty of tables going during happy hour so I dive in.

Hand #1

Full Tilt Poker $0.25/$0.50 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

MP1: $99.25
MP2: $53.25
Hero (CO): $50.00
BTN: $50.00
SB: $49.50
BB: $48.00
UTG: $109.25
UTG+1: $140.25
UTG+2: $158.95

Hero posts a big blind ($0.50)

Pre Flop: ($1.25) Hero is CO with 55 of hearts KK of hearts
UTG calls $0.50, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls $0.50, 2 folds, Hero checks, 2 folds, BB checks

First hand at the table. I was contemplating a raise, but in the last hand (while waiting to post) I saw two raises go in before the flop, one of which was by the UTG player. Just going to see a flop here.

Flop: ($2.25) 99 of hearts 33 of diamonds 77 of hearts (4 players)
BB checks, UTG bets $2.50, UTG+2 folds, Hero calls $2.50, BB folds

I flop a flush draw, it's a big bet but I make the call for a few reasons. I have some implied odds, I might be able to win it with a king, and I may have it checked to me on the turn and may be able to either bluff or take a free card.

Turn: ($7.25) 44 of clubs (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

He checks, I play it safe and take a free look at the river.

River: ($7.25) 22 of hearts (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $4, UTG calls $4

I make my flush and at this point I think my hand is pretty obvious. I just make a meek bet of $4 and hope he pays me off with his 66 or whatever.

Final Pot: $15.25
Hero shows 55 of hearts KK of hearts (a flush, King high)
UTG mucks AA of clubs 99 of spades

Hero wins $14.50
(Rake: $0.75)

Surprised he checked to me on the turn with that hand.

Hand #2

UTG+2: $99.25
MP1: $53.25
Hero (MP2): $57.50
CO: $50.00
BTN: $49.25
SB: $47.50
BB: $102.25
UTG: $140.25
UTG+1: $158.45

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is MP2 with TT of hearts TT of clubs
UTG raises to $1.75, 3 folds, Hero calls $1.75, 4 folds

Very next hand I pick up two tens. It's full ring so this is a call, although I probably make the same play at 6 max. I get it heads up with position, how I'd like to play this hand.

Flop: ($4.25) TT of diamonds 44 of spades 55 of hearts (2 players)
UTG bets $3, Hero calls $3

He makes a continuation bet, I'm just going to call with my top set, as I will do with a lot of hands on the flop. I of course want him to put me on a draw.

Turn: ($10.25) 77 of diamonds (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $5, UTG folds

Check/f0ld to a half pot bet. Too easy. I make a note.

Final Pot: $10.25

Hero wins $9.75
(Rake: $0.50)

Hand #3

SB: $89.05
BB: $59.00
UTG: $72.20
UTG+1: $38.50
Hero (UTG+2): $48.00
MP1: $41.70
MP2: $12.25
CO: $48.50
BTN: $51.50

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is UTG+2 with 33 of hearts 33 of spades
2 folds, Hero raises to $1.50, MP1 calls $1.50, 5 folds

This is debatable, I make a raise here with a small pair. Standard play from any position at 6 max, I get 1 caller.

Flop: ($3.75) 66 of spades 22 of clubs 33 of clubs (2 players)
Hero bets $3, MP1 calls $3

And I get another set. I make a standard continuation bet.

Turn: ($9.75) 77 of spades (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $6.50, Hero calls $6.50

I give up the lead on the turn readless. He could be sandbagging a straight, be on a flush draw, have like an A 6 for a pair or 7 6 for two pair. I am pretty sure I have the best hand, but I have to play it a little tricky. He makes a bet of $6.50 and I smooth call.

River: ($22.75) AA of diamonds (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $17.50, Hero calls $17.50

A on the river, I thought he was going to shove all-in for his final $30.70. He timed down a bit and then made the $17.50 bet. I figure his most likely holding is two pair, easily could have A6 or 76 here. I call with little hesitation.

Final Pot: $57.75

Hero shows 33 of hearts 33 of spades (three of a kind, Threes)
MP1 shows 99 of clubs JJ of clubs (Ace Jack high)

Hero wins $54.90
(Rake: $2.85)

I did not really consider the possibility of a bluff to be honest. If I had KK I would have folded. Really glad though I under represented my hand to give him the opportunity, even though I gave him the opportunity to take a free card.

Hand #4

MP2: $88.80
CO: $56.75
BTN: $71.45
SB: $43.70
Hero (BB): $74.40
UTG: $6.75
UTG+1: $48.50
MP1: $53.55

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BB with AA of spades QQ of clubs
4 folds, CO calls $0.50, 1 fold, SB calls $0.25, Hero raises to $2, CO calls $1.50, 1 fold

Two calls to me in the BB. I make the obligatory raise from the BB, even though I know for sure CO is calling.

Flop: ($4.50) JJ of diamonds 33 of diamonds 66 of clubs (2 players)
Hero bets $3, CO calls $3

I make a standard c-bet. He calls.

Turn: ($10.50) 66 of diamonds (2 players)

Hero checks, CO bets $3.50, Hero calls $3.50

And there's the stupid flush, though he could have a lot of hands here. He hopefully saw what I had the last time I gave up the lead, but in any case I'm not folding for $3.50.

River: ($17.50) 99 of spades (2 players)
Hero checks, CO checks

Final Pot: $17.50

CO shows 33 of clubs AA of clubs (two pair, Sixes and Threes)
Hero mucks AA of spades QQ of clubs

CO wins $16.65
(Rake: $0.85)

Free showdown, just glad he didn't make me call another $3.50 to see it.

Hand #5

UTG: $98.00
UTG+1: $52.50
Hero (UTG+2): $61.00
MP1: $100.15
MP2: $47.50
CO: $45.00
BTN: $65.90
SB: $26.00
BB: $39.50

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is UTG+2 with AA of diamonds JJ of clubs
UTG calls $0.50, 1 fold, Hero raises to $2, 3 folds, BTN calls $2, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.50

I hate AJ, but I make the obligatory raise.

Flop: ($6.75) AA of spades 55 of clubs 66 of clubs (3 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $5, BTN folds, UTG raises to $20, Hero folds

I flop top pair and I make a hand defining bet of $5. UTG checkraises to $20. I figure the worst hand he could have here was A5 of clubsx5 of clubs, in which I'm about a 55:45 favorite. Otherwise, I'm a 52:48 underdog to 85 of clubs75 of clubs, 3:1 dog against two pair, and 19:1 dog against a set. He was playing passive so far in the session so I did not assign a hand like J5 of clubsT5 of clubs to his range. Overall I'm a 4:1 dog against the range I did assign him, so easy fold.

Final Pot: $16.75

UTG wins $15.95
(Rake: $0.80)

Hand #6

UTG: $110.45
UTG+1: $50.00
Hero (UTG+2): $54.60
MP1: $103.15
MP2: $51.05
CO: $46.35
BTN: $75.85
SB: $34.20
BB: $21.75

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is UTG+2 with KK of spades QQ of hearts
2 folds, Hero raises to $2, 3 folds, BTN calls $2, 1 fold, BB calls $1.50

This was early on at a 2nd table I opened, no real reads yet. This is a marginal starting hand for the spot, maybe I should just fold this.

Flop: ($6.25) 99 of clubs TT of spades 66 of clubs (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3.50, BTN calls $3.50, BB folds

I make a small c-bet, hoping to be able to just pick it up.

Turn: ($13.25) QQ of clubs (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $8, Hero folds

This was a tough spot. I turn top pair, but a flush has come in. I'm out of position. If I call I'm potentially faced with another big decision on the river. I elect to give it up. He's representing a flush, but he could also have QJ there or just a pair and a high club. Still, "hammer of future bets" concept applies here, so I fold.

Final Pot: $13.25

BTN wins $12.60
(Rake: $0.65)

Hand #7

UTG+2: $90.15
MP1: $60.65
MP2: $71.45
CO: $9.25
Hero (BTN): $72.90
SB: $11.45
BB: $7.30
UTG: $43.50
UTG+1: $50.00

Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero is BTN with QQ of hearts AA of clubs
UTG calls $0.50, 5 folds, Hero raises to $2, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.50

I make the standard raise in position, happy to get it heads up against this player.

Flop: ($4.75) 22 of hearts 44 of spades 44 of hearts (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets $2.50, UTG calls $2.50

I c-bet, he calls. His range is any pair or hearts or even maybe Ah x of x.

Turn: ($9.75) 88 of spades (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

He checks the turn and I check it back UI.

River: ($9.75) AA of spades (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero checks

I hit a pair of aces on the river and show it down. I didn't think I could get called by a worse hand and of course couldn't stand a checkraise. I think that might have been a mistake though against this passive player. Probably could at least get a $4 of value out of him.

Final Pot: $9.75

Hero shows QQ of hearts AA of clubs (two pair, Aces and Fours)
UTG mucks 33 of spades 33 of clubs

Hero wins $9.30
(Rake: $0.45)

+$39 profit for the 45 minute session. And so ends the month of March.
