PLO8

As I mentioned previously I've been enjoying the freerolls that ACR has been hosting. They're doing a lot of Omaha and today it was PLO8. Fun game, especially when other people have little clue how to play it.

I've noticed this a lot in these; people love 3-betting KKxx and QQxx with no low. Of course they can't get away from their overpair on the flop either. As seen by the equities I'm 70/30 there preflop, great place to be in this game where the equities are supposed to run much closer.

Amazing we have a 3 way all-in and nobody has a qualifying low. Given the hands that these other players have been coming in with I think I am justified in 3betting my pretty dry pair of aces here. Of course I'm happy to see a flush draw on the flop when I was pretty much committed to sticking the rest of my stack in on any flop. 62% equity with both opponents having less than top pair and they refuse to fold, lol.

Looked like a pretty big blunder from me but this guy had been super aggro literally raising almost every pot. I figure with an A23x on the button I can at least take a flop with him and when I flop bottom two I figure to be ahead a lot of times. But nope, he had top 2 and I could not hit my backdoor low draw or another 3. Didn't have to be so eager to get my money in here against a bigger stack with such a vulnerable hand. Calling would have been better than raising even if I wasn't ready to fold yet. Still got chips, gotta bounce back.

GOD, THEY PLAY SO BAD!!!! Another hand where they're willing to call off with less than top pair in a 4 card game! I understand it's an all-in bet for only about 3/5 of the pot but come on, gotta give me credit for a hand here. Instead he hits a miracle backdoor draw and the low that comes in with it keeps me in the game. Yay lower variance version of Omaha!

End up going card dead for a bit and get moved to another table now hovering around starting stack as we are <100 from the money.

Tried making the ol "minraise and hope the BB has the auto fold button selected" play, but he timed down and then called. About a PSB left at that point and I don't love my hand but figure I have enough equity to go with it. I mistakenly included fold equity in that calculation, HA! But as it turned out he called with literally the one hand I could be in great shape against here. Worse flush draw and worse low draw. Still, he found a way to get half.

Continue to get bled away with blinds/antes getting dealt dogshit hands as we inch closer to the money. Less than 10 away from the money when this hand comes up:.

My crappy low was good enough to keep me in this tournament, lol. The all-in player had 63♠9♣4♥ to stay in the tournament. I like my chances of at least cashing now as there are several stacks under 1k as we near the money bubble.

We actually did make the money before this hand came up (and our friend the tiny stacked all-in player that survived in the hand before made the money also), so I am quite happy to open shove this hand. About even with the AAKT with that 3rd guy in there and happy to take 1/2 this time.

They love their fucking paint pocket pairs in this game, don't they? Flopped the nut low and had a chance to scoop with the flush draw on the turn, but it didn't come in. Half again! A short while after raised an AA4x hand and actually took down the blinds and antes. Typed in the chat (to the BB) "good fold, had an AA hand" (he took a long time before folding) and then this:
