Very next hand: quartered for the high! Another hand I hate in this game is top & bottom but with the nut low also I have to get it in there. We were actually about 40 away from the money at this point but I knew I needed to accumulate chips to have a chance. Thought Top 2 w/o a low draw out there would be good enough; turned out I was a 65-35 dog against villain's hand in this instance and had to fade a lot of outs in order to stay in the tourney. However, I'm now virtually guaranteed to make the money with that double up.
We do make the money but get absolute shit for cards with no first in vig to make a move as idiots with big stacks open limp from up front, preventing me from moving in with marginal hands. Lost over 1/2 my stack and finally could wait no longer.

We were actually about 40 away from the money at this point but I knew I needed to accumulate chips to have a chance. Thought Top 2 w/o a low draw out there would be good enough; turned out I was a 65-35 dog against villain's hand in this instance and had to fade a lot of outs in order to stay in the tourney. However, I'm now virtually guaranteed to make the money with that double up.
We do make the money but get absolute shit for cards with no first in vig to make a move as idiots with big stacks open limp from up front, preventing me from moving in with marginal hands. Lost over 1/2 my stack and finally could wait no longer.

That ended up being basically a coin flip against that hand but given my tight conservative-wise image I was hoping BB would just fold pre and let me take that one. Nope.
