Super Bowl

Being a sports fan is fun, especially if your team wins. Tonight, my beloved New York Giants won Super Bowl XLII. It was a great game and I was on the edge of my seat pretty much the entire game. The Giants took me on an awesome playoff journey. However, only the wild card win against Tampa was a comfortable victory. The Dallas game was a nailbiter, with the defense making some great plays to beat a very talented Cowboys offense. I had expected Dallas to win going in, but once the Giants took the lead in the 4th quarter I was anxious the whole fourth quarter. Then there's the NFC Championship against Green Bay. A close game that ended up going to overtime where the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big 'H.' It was a most ripping victory, but my heart was in my throat the whole 4th quarter of that one, especially after Tynes missed those two field goals. Then there's tonight. The whole game I was on the edge of my seat. I predicted the ...

Half-stacked PL08 $50 for a short while because no $25 tables open. One interesting hand came up. Ultimate Bet Pot-Limit Omaha/8, $.50 BB (8 handed) Ultimate-Bet Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards) BB ($94.50) UTG ($14.45) UTG+1 ($10.80) MP1 ($21.85) MP2 ($69.90) CO ($38.05) Hero ($24.25) SB ($48.25) Preflop: Hero is Button with , , , . 2 folds , MP2 calls $0.50, CO calls $0.50, Hero calls $0.50, SB completes, BB checks. Figured I'd see a flop with this. I have a suit to the ace, broadway, and the 9 works with the QT as well. Flop: ($2.50) , , (5 players) SB checks, BB bets $2.5 , MP2 folds, CO calls $2.50, Hero calls $2.50. I flop the nut flush. How should I play it? I figured the BB probably has a lower flush or set, and I didn't want to make my hand obvious. There is a low draw out there but I'm going to take my chances and wait for a blank turn. Turn: ($10) (3 players) BB checks, CO checks, Hero bets $7 , BB calls $7, CO fo...

Ultimate Bet Pot-Limit Omaha/8, $.25 BB (9 handed) Ultimate-Bet Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards) MP2 ($4.17) MP3 ($24.75) CO ($6.51) Button ($22.60) Hero ($29.69) BB ($45.50) UTG ($5) UTG+1 ($31.43) MP1 ($3.14) Preflop: Hero is SB with , , , . UTG+1 calls $0.25, 3 folds , CO calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, Hero completes, BB checks. Pretty good hand to see a flop with. I'd like to hit high cards on the flop, but I still do have A2 for lo. Flop: ($1.25) , , (5 players) Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets $0.25 , CO folds, Button calls $0.25, Hero calls $0.25, BB calls $0.25. Flop the nut lo draw. UTG+1 only bets a quarter though, so it's an easy call, even though I have to be a little cautious if I get there. Turn: ($2.25) (4 players) Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 bets $2.25 , Button folds, Hero calls $2.25, BB folds. I do get there and now this guy leads for pot. I'm relieved to see button fold, so I go ahead and call. BB folds be...

More O8

Ultimate Bet Pot-Limit Omaha/8, $.25 BB (7 handed) Ultimate-Bet Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards) saw flop | saw showdown Button ($23.19) Hero ($18.40) BB ($14.49) UTG ($26.70) MP1 ($19.62) MP2 ($2.64) CO ($11.61) Preflop: Hero is SB with , , , . 1 fold , MP2 calls $0.25, 2 folds , Hero completes, BB checks. We need to hit high cards on the flop. Flop: ($1) , , (4 players) Hero checks, BB checks, UTG bets $1 , MP2 calls $1, Hero raises to $5 , BB folds, UTG calls $4, MP2 calls $1.39 (All-In). And we do hit. I decide to go for the checkraise. Might seem like suicide, but people pot it with way too many hands at this damn level. And they refuse to fold to a pot sized raise. So I'm going to extract the maximum value from my 2nd set, which I believe is ahead most of the time here. Turn: ($13.39) (3 players, 1 all-in) Hero checks, UTG bets $13.39 , Hero calls $13.15 (All-In). Well that sucks, QT just got there. But I refuse to fold. I hav...

Ultimate Bet Pot-Limit Omaha/8, $.25 BB (10 handed) Ultimate-Bet Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver Cards) MP1 ($9.40) MP2 ($7.19) MP3 ($11.04) Hero ($25) Button ($9.13) SB ($9.23) BB ($10.54) UTG ($24.39) UTG+1 ($21.59) UTG+2 ($6.53) Preflop: Hero is CO with , , , . Hero posts a blind of $0.25. 1 fold , UTG+1 calls $0.25, 1 fold , MP1 calls $0.25, 2 folds , Hero (poster) checks, 1 fold , SB completes, BB checks. Post in the cutoff, so here I am playing this hand. Flop: ($1.25) , , (5 players) SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets $0.9 , SB calls $0.90, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, MP1 folds. Bottom set, but unlikely anyone has AA or KK. I lead out for about 3/4 pot. Turn: ($3.05) (2 players) SB bets $3.05 , Hero calls $3.05. The 3rd low card comes and this donkey pots into me. I'm positive he has 42xx, maybe with a pair of aces or something, but not much for hi. I commit to calling down unless a miracle 5 hits on the river....
