Haven't played a single hand in months but the poker rooms reopening around here got me thinking about the game again so decided to log on and play the nightly GPP just before late-reg ended. Here's how it went.

I pick up bullets and after 2 limpers I raise pot. I know I'm committed to getting it in after the flop but of course I want customers here so didn't shove initially. I plan on shoving the flop no matter what but I hit my set. I'm thinking I can now wait until the turn; maybe one of them will bluff at it. I do get one of them to bet into me on the turn and I had to fade his club draw to take it down. But now just like that I am in the tournament despite not taking an add-on.

Running really well and then this happens to end the tournament. Maybe could have repopped with the TT but I always hate theses spots since I'm almost never better than a slight favorite and I don't feel my fold equity is great there. So my cash game mindset of let's see a flop and play it from there takes over. I don't think that's a bad thing though. We did get a short stack to shove but he ended up having AQ also (unsuited) and I think he ends up going with it no matter what since people on this site are fixated on what their hand is only irrespective of the action in front of them (or their position for that matter).
So since it's not a full reraise we can only call (wouldn't have backraised all-in anyway, an all-in from the initial raiser would have made it a tough decision for me). Flop comes with a dry side pot and I hit my set. I feel like I had to protect my hand so I decided to shove. The other option I was considering was to check it back and wait for a safe turn before committing against a larger stack. But if the scare card comes and I get bet into, am I really folding? So as played no real regerts. Finished 27th, 12 out of the money. If I win that hand I'm in a great position to make a deep run and I got it in good.
At the beginning of the post I mentioned that the local cardrooms were back in operation here. Six-handed poker is allowed in NH which is not really my cup of tea but better than the 4 & 5 handed games that are offered elsewhere. If one of the rooms starts spreading limit O8 or stud/8 I'll pay them a visit, but probably not going to play hold'em.
