I like to check in these spots a lot. Classic WA/WB situation. May as well give my opponent a chance to take the initiative. He doesn't on the flop but the turn comes an awesome card. I suppose I could bet here and get called a lot of the time (any pocket pair, Ax hands) but I want to give him one more chance to stab at it. He obliges. The pot sized bet just screams that he is weak here. Way too big of a bet for that situation. If he thinks I have an Ax type of hand he should be betting less to suck me in. So it really looks like he's trying to push me out of this pot. I flat and on the river I just don't see him giving up at the pot with less than 2k left in his stack. But if he has a complete dogshit hand he can't call if I put him in. So check-snap is the line and we are more than good.

Still playing. Up over 11k now and 4th in chips after winning a sizeable pot with JJ.But still over 100 left and we're a ways away from the money. I'll update later.

Update: Finished 10th. Pretty much folded my way into the money from that point, it went fast and I didn't get many hands to speak of. Got down to 8k with blinds 1250/2500 then started to get a few shoves through and built my stack back up from the danger zone. But then had to shove JT and ran into AJ. T on the river saved me from elimination. 15 left at that point and we had a few more eliminations and I see my stack continue to be anted down. 2nd shortest stack at this point and got first in vig so have to go with this one:

The big stack had A9♠, no idea what the hell he was doing in there. Even against my shove that should be a fold with players to act behind. That's how you can get into trouble in this game. He was basically forced to compound the error by calling BB's reshove getting a good price, but almost certainly behind. Turns out it was the short stack in the CO that had the goods and he ended up getting the spoils.

Anyhow, narrowly miss the final table but end up getting $8.75 for my efforts.
